About

If you are a student hoping to enhance your skills or experience with data analysis, survey research, or disability studies, we are looking for someone to be involved in a unique, entry-level project to explore census and other demographic data on your own time. The project is focused on determining which groups (minorities, disability types, geographic areas) are not receiving the services they need to live independently in their community. This project will not only help us identify these groups, but to determine an outreach plan to help these individuals better access these services and supports. The volunteer opportunity includes the following: • Assist in developing and distributing surveys (online) and keeping track of consumer data • Collecting and analyzing demographic data in Texas • Researching disability statistics in Texas • (if needed) joining workgroup calls (we're planning roughly 4-6 one-hour calls in between now and the end of the calendar year for planning purposes) We are very flexible with scheduling so you are welcome to commit as many hours as needed to complete the tasks above. It's also an ongoing project, so we are happy to work with you on how long you wish to be involved. I'm happy to share more details if needed!
