About

Ever Thought About Bringing the World to Your Home? One hundred seventy foreign-exchange students from around the world have their fingers crossed that they will soon get to experience what it’s like to live in what The Huffington Post describes as "the strangest city in America." These great kids range in age from 15 to 17 and hail from Albania, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Brazil, China, France, Gaza, Germany, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Switzerland, Tanzania, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Vietnam. As the local coordinator for Academic Year in America, it is my job to find Host Families for these kids. My current Host Parents range in age from 27 to 75. Like me, they view hosting as one of the most rewarding things they have ever done – a multicultural adventure second to none. If you have ever thought about hosting, please give me (Garland Hancock) a call to find out just how easy it can be. My number is (254) 216-0460; I can be easily reached nights, days and on weekends. If you will call or message me, I can also let you see all these kids' profiles and pictures. Or, you might be interested in becoming a coordinator like me. I can fill you in on that as well so please call even if only tangentially interested.
